With 16 nations expected for four days of competition, dressage returns this week to the arenas of the Pôle International du Cheval in Deauville, marking the resumption of the international season following the World Championships in Aachen. Just like last year, a British pair claimed victory in the Grand Prix today: following Thomas Goode’s win in 2025, this time it was Lewis Carrier and his horse, Diego V. The 18-year-old KWPN (by Spielberg) was a unanimous hit with the judges, earning a score of 71.522%—close to the peak performance level he displayed in 2024. This marks the second Grand Prix victory of their career, following a win two years ago in Wellington, where they scored 71.283%. Speaking of Aachen, Jeroen Devroe was there with Lestor, his other Grand Prix horse. After a four-month break from competition, he fielded Jackpot, his 12-year-old gelding by Everdale, today. The chestnut posted a career-best score at this level, finishing with 70.283%. For Corentin Pottier and San Cloud's Lucky, the day also marked a personal best in the Grand Prix: the San Amour gelding, winner this season at Gössendorf and Mariakalnok, broke the 70% barrier for the first time, scoring 70.218%. A major chapter is coming to a close at Hof Kasselmann. German dressage riders Frederic Wandres and Lars Ligus are preparing to strike out on their own. Starting in January 2027, the duo will set up their own training and sales operation at the Gut Einhaus estate in Herzlake, Lower Saxony.. After years of successful collaboration in Hagen under the guidance of Ullrich Kasselmann and trainer Insa Hansen, the two professionals are taking a step they describe as a natural evolution in their careers. The facilities at Gut Einhaus will provide the setting for developing their project, which focuses on training horses and riders for international competition. A key rider for the German team—an Olympic team champion in Paris and a World and European Championship medalist—Frederic Wandres has played a major role in the recent history of the Hagen stable. Alongside him, Lars Ligus brings his experience in international competition and Nations Cup events, as well as his expertise in developing young horses to the highest levels of the Bundeschampionat. This move will not be a solitary one; several horses from their competition string will accompany Frederic Wandres and Lars Ligus on this new venture in Herzlake. Notable among them are Bluetooth OLD and Veuve Clicquot FRH, two horses that have played a pivotal role in the riders' recent successes. Although this relocation marks a move toward greater sporting and commercial independence, ties with the Kasselmann family remain strong. Dès janvier 2027, le duo installera sa propre structure d'entraînement et de commerce au sein du domaine Gut Einhaus, situé à Herzlake en Basse-Saxe. Après des années de collaboration fructueuse à Hagen sous la houlette d'Ullrich Kasselmann et le suivi de l'entraîneur Insa Hansen, les deux professionnels franchissent ce qu'ils décrivent comme une évolution naturelle de leur carrière. Les installations du Gut Einhaus offriront le cadre pour développer leur projet, axé sur la formation des chevaux et des cavaliers pour le sport international. Plus discrète ces derniers années, l'allemande Helen Langehanenberg a vu ces derniers jours l'arrivée dans ses écuries d'un nouvel étalon nommé Vertigo. Né à l'élevage Heiline, cet étalon DWB de 3 ans est aussi connu sous le nom de Heiline's Viva La Vida : il s'agit d'un fils de Vivaldon et San Amour, issu de la même grand mère que Heiline's Danciera, la jument de tête de la danoise Carina Cassoe Kruth, et de la même arrière grand mère que l'étalon Dancier.
