Is Spain about to see the arrival of a new pair able of proudly representing its flag internationally? Possible. The stallion Escamillo, ridden by Manuel Dominguez Bernal, made his Grand Prix debut yesterday, with a successful result.
This son of Escolar and Rohdiamant, born at Gestüt Tenterhof, catched the world attention in 2017 with hier approval by the Hanoverian studbook. Owned by Kimberly Davies-Slous, he joined the stables of German rider Helen Langehanenberg in 2020. Despite three outings in young horse competitions that summer, she gave his reins to Manuel Dominguez Bernal, her rider at that time. Together, they were World Championship silver medalists for 6-year-olds in 2021 and then won bronze medals at 7 years old. In 2023, the Rheinlander and the now-self employed rider, competed in the Small Tour national level: they participated in the Nurnberger Burgpokal circuit final, where they notably achieved a third-place finish in the first round with a score of 73.634%.
Awarded 73.070% for their first Inter II in February 2024, Manuel Dominguez Bernal & Escamillo this time obtained 72.300% (with both 69.300% for the judge in H and 75.600% for the judge in M?!), which was the second place behind Tobias Nabben & Foster 16 at 73.030% for this first Grand Prix presented at Unna-Massen.
At 11 years old, the bay is already the sire of around forty approved sons, including Extreme US, Escanto PS, Escaneno or Eleven, owned and ridden by the Belgian Flore de Winne.
