Team World Champion in 2018 in Herning with TSF Dalera BB and expected to start the 4* in Hagen this week, a competition supporting the upcoming selections of the German team, Jessica von Bredow Werndl finally announced in recent hours that she does not have ambitions for the summer event with Times Kismet.
Since March, the German has been competing in the Grand Prix in the CDI classes, with the Ampere's daughter, previously ridden by Charlotte Dujardin. After a debut with a score of 66.261% at Ornago, they won with a score of 74.522% in Munich last month; enough to fuel some ambitions, especially considering the withdrawal of Ingrid Klimke & Vayron and the uncertainties surrounding Charlott Maria Schürmann & Dante's Pearl. She explained this weekend, however, "I would have loved to participate in the second selection stage for the World Championships in Aachen next week; that's why the decision not to go to Hagen was particularly difficult. In agreement with Kiss's owners, we deliberately chose to give her the time she needs. This is Kiss's first season at Grand Prix level, and she has exceptional talent. It is precisely for this reason that we are committed to developing her patiently and with a long-term perspective. We continue to learn and evolve at every competition. During the summer, we want to continue along this path, without undue pressure, but remaining fully focused on her long-term development. In sport, it is often tempting to seize every opportunity. However, being responsible sometimes means letting an opportunity pass when you are convinced it is the right decision for the future."
The 40-year-old rider also started a new mare in competition last weekend: Felicana BB. This 7-year-old daughter of Follow Him and Benicio began her competitive career in 2024, ridden by Raphael Netz. She then competed with another rider from the Aubenhausen stables, the Spaniard Adrian Muñoz Jurado, in young horse classes, notably the German 6-Year-Old Championship: scoring 8.04 in the preliminary test, they finished 5th in the Small Final with a score of 8.12. Felicana BB's granddam is none other than the dam of Ferdinand BB, whom Jessica von Bredow Werndl presented at the World Young Horse Championships in 2014 and then at the Nations Cup in Aachen in 2021, before he became European U25 Champion with Raphael Netz. Competing in a national class close to the Petit Tour level, Jessica von Bredow Werndl & Feliciana BB were victorious with a score of 78.170%.
