Springbank II VH seriously injured

Springbank II VH, the stallion with whom German rider Yara Reichert competes at Grand Prix level, has sustained a serious injury annonced today Equi Pages.

Bred in 2014 at Västra Hoby Stuteri in Sweden, Springbank II VH quickly established himself as one of the most notable young stallions of his generation. A son of Skovens Rafael and out of a De Niro mare, the powerful chestnut was approved in Denmark in 2017. Ridden by Severo Jurado López, Springbank II VH made his debut at the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo in 2019. As a five-year-old, the pair finished fifth in the final with an average score of 9.18, including a 9.5 for the canter and general impression. At age seven, Springbank II VH changed both rider and owner; Yara Reichert purchased the stallion from Andreas Helgstrand in 2021.

Ridden by Yara Reichert, Springbank II VH once again competed in the World Championships for Young Horses—this time in the seven-year-old category in Verden—where he finished twelfth. The 2022 season marked his debut on the international Small Tour circuit, featuring several wins and top placings in Hagen, Stadl-Paura, and Šamorín. A year later, the pair stepped up to Grand Prix level and reached the final of the Louisdor-Preis series in Frankfurt. There, Springbank II VH finished seventh with a score of 69.540%, having previously scored 73.638% in the qualifier. In 2025, the stallion notably distinguished himself in Munich by placing second in the 5* Grand Prix Freestyle with a score of 75.420%.

This season, Springbank II VH finished third in the Munich 5* Grand Prix Freestyle (Kür) with a score of 74.770%, before placing third in the CDI 3* Grand Prix in Achleiten with 68.370%—his final competition appearance.

His rider announced this morning that his competitive career has likely come to an end.
