German rider Carina Scholz has announced the unexpected death of her Grand Prix mare, Soiree d’Amour Old, at the age of 17.

Bred by Maren Bergen, this daughter of San Amour and Latimer began her career with Kira Wulferding. In 2012, the pair won the German Championship for 3-year-olds, before going on to secure 5th place at the 2014 World Championships for 5-year-olds and finishing as runners-up in the German Championship for that age category.

After reaching the final of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal circuit in 2017,where they placed 7t, the dark bay mare was trained for the Grand Prix level. She made her Grand Prix debut in 2019 and also qualified for the Louisdor-Preis final.

The rider who presented Weihegold at the 2010 World Championships for 5-year-olds later began her own Grand Prix career in CDI competition with this daughter of San Amour—starting in 2021 at Verden with a score of 70.761%. This partnership came to an end in March 2022, when the owner of Soiree d'Amour decided to entrust the mare to fellow German rider Carina Scholz.

Up until her final international appearance in September 2025, Soiree d'Amour won World Cup legs in Wrocław and Dunajský Klátov (pictured) and qualified for the Final in Basel, where the pair finished 11th—scoring 72.109% in the Grand Prix and 75.415% in the Freestyle.

The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.
