DV Stenkjers Nadonna, the mare with the one the brit Gareth Hughes participated in the European Championships in Herning in 2013 and the World Games in Caen in 2014, pass away.
Born in Denmark, this DWB mare by Donnerschlag and Fruhling started competing in the UK in 2004, first with Roland Tong, who presented her up to Small Tour level until 2007. The bay mare was then sent to Philippa Jane Fisher, with whom she began competing at the Grand Prix level in April 2009: DV Stenkjers Nadonna was then 11 years old. Her owner, Jane Brewin, then decided that she would continue her competitive career with Gareth Hughes. After a first Grand Prix win with a score of 68.61% in March 2011, they entered their first CDI in Hartpury that same year. Selected for the British team for the Nations Cup in Rotterdam in 2012, they were called to compete at the European Championships in Herning in 2013, where they achieved a modest 60.866%. Despite this, the 71.960% achieved in Compiègne in 2014 and their 72.757% on the Caen Test Event opened them the doors to selection for the World Championships, from which they left 39th after a Grand Prix with 69.714%.
DV Stenkjers Nadonna was Gareth Hughes first team horse and her international sport career ended after her trip to Normandy. She spent her final years at Headmore Stud, between London and Southampton. She was 28 years old.
