This morning, just under the Château de Chaintré, the Mâcon CDI 3* saw 26 starters—including 16 French riders—line up for the Grand Prix, setting the stage for a France-Spain battle.
Victory ultimately went to Spain and Borja Carrascosa. Competing in Mâcon for the first time, the rider scored 72.587% with Frizzantino FRH. He finished ahead of his compatriot Juan Antonio Jimenez Cobo and his twelve-year-old gelding, Quartar, who left the arena with a score of 70.109%. Taking third place—and achieving the best French performance of the Grand Prix—Pauline Basquin and Sertorius de Rima Z scored 69.848%, despite error in the one-tempi changes. Two other French riders followed: Alexandre Ayache and Ruling Olivia scored 68.913%, while Alizée Roussel and Bel Amour delivered a consistent test scoring 68.761%. They finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Leaving the arena, the Spaniard said: "First of all, I’m really happy to be here! It’s my first time in Mâcon, and I didn’t expect such a high-quality competition. The venue is magnificent, the facilities are perfect, and the organizers are lovely. I’m very pleased with my Grand Prix performance this morning; Frizzantino remained perfectly responsive to all my cues. I’m looking forward to the Freestyle tomorrow evening—it promises to be a great night."
