But where will Isabell Werth stop? Competing in the German Championships in Balve, the 56-year-old rider fielded her two top horses: Wendy de Fontaine and the young Viva Gold Old. After three days of competition, she not only dominated all three events but also both titles up for grabs. Nothing less.

From Wednesday, the icon of German dressage took the lead with Bolette Wandt's daughter, Sezuan. Awarded 81.240%, including a perfect 10 for the piaffe and piaffe/passage transitions, the DWB allowed Frederic Wandres & Bluetooth Old to battle it out, ultimately edging out his son of Vivaldi by a hair. The Kasselmann stables pair were then second with 76.560%, while Viva Gold Old completed the podium in this warm-up class with 76.520%; a narrow lead they couldn't maintain in the Grand Prix Special. Consistent at 81.510%, Wendy maintained a clear advantage over her 10-year-old stablemate, who scored 77.823%. Frederic Wandres and the son of Bordeaux took bronze with a score of 77.686%.

This morning in the freestyle test, Isabell Werth confirmed her dominance with the very talented chestnut gelding, winning with 83.650%, ahead of Semmieke Rothenberger & Farrington at 80.880% and Raphael Netz & Great Escape Camelot at 79.030%.

The rider from Rheinberg is therefore a double German Champion this year in addition to the 18 titles she has won in the past!
