Is Isabell Werth on her way to the World Championships with Viva Gold Old?

Isabell Werth & Viva Gold Old competed in their first Grand Prix Special today in Herning. And what a Grand Prix Special it was, as they nearly reached 80% with a score of 79.042%.

Often ridden horses with a quite atypical morphology... like Superb, Warum Nicht, Satchmo, El Santo, Emilio, First Class... Isabell Werth has with Viva Gold Old a horse born and bred for high-level dressage, although one might perhaps find his neck a little short. For their return to the Danish arena, Isabell Werth and this son of Vivaldi showed another very solid performance, especially for a only 10 years old horse: despite regular contact discussion and an attitude that will benefit from opening up, particularly in canter work and flying changes, with faults tempies today after the 13th , the dark chestnut displayed the full extent of his great talent in the canter pirouettes, passage and piaffe; two exercices for which he received a score of 10.

Despite these few faults, Isabell Werth and Viva Gold were scored at 79.042%... well, well above the 74.511% that the German rider had in her first Grand Prix Special with Wendy de Fontaine, the 75.29% of Bella Rose, and the 77.529% of Weihegold. With the World Championships in Aachen just five months away, could Viva Gold Old be the surprise of the German team? Let's just remember that, at the European Championships in Crozet, Isabell Werth and the daughter of Sezuan finished 3rd with 79.027%!

Isabell Werth & Viva Gold completely dominate the competition. Leonie Richter & Lord Europe were again second with 71.915% and Camilla Lunderskov & Donnerhall Son II third with 70%.
