Herning's CDI 5* Grand Prix : home victory for Cathrine Laudrup Dufour & MSJ Freestyle

The afternoon was dedicated to dressage in Herning. After the CDI 3* (see HERE), the day continued with the 5*, dominated, as could quite logically be predicted, by Cathrine Laudrup Dufour & MSJ Freestyle who took the lead over Isabell Werth & Wendy de Fontaine.
This 2026 edition is successful for Cathrine Laudrup Dufour: winner yesterday of the Saint Georges CDI 1* with Franko Unik at 73.235% (photo), the Danish rider then went on to victory with the 16-year-old daughter of Fidermark. For her return to the show track since the CDI 5* in Frankfurt, the mare showed herself at her best, without any majr fault, consistent, with only a few occasional resistances and a second pirouette at the canter which could have been more controlled; a start to the 2026 season rewarded with an 84.174%, which is their new personal record.
Two and a half years after her last appearance in Denmark, also in Herning at the October World Cup event, then ridden by Andreas Helgstrand, Wendy de Fontaine was back in the land of her first triumphs. The daughter of Sezuan owned by Bolette Wandt was presented in a cautious way in extented trot. If Wendy de Fontaine showed some resistance and a contact quality that could sometimes be improved, the DWB mare continued to demonstrate her progress, particularly in her balance and attitude. She stayed well with her rider in the flying changes lines, even if the times could have been ground covering. Their score of 81.913% : a new personal best.
Third place went to Isabel Freese and Total Hope Old. Not quite square in his entry halt, nor in the one before the rein-back, the stallion was a bit impatient in the collected walk. He compensated, however, with solid work at the canter, particularly in his first pirouette and in the flying changes. The Norwegian pair achieved a score of 74.652%.
