Same again: as in the Grand Prix, Herning's 5* Freestyle saw yesterday another duel between Cathrine Laudrup Dufour and Isabell Werth.
And once again, in this game, the Danish rider took the lead. Despite some cautious extended trots, few contact discussions, and flying change sometimes a bit closed in the front, the 16-year-old Hanoverian mare delivered a flawless freestyle, displaying an overall supple and relaxed test. At the end of a very challenging final line with a sequence of extended walk/collected walk/one and a half canter pirouette /piaffe/ piaffe half pirouette /halt, Cathrine Laudrup Dufour & MSJ Freestyle were rewarded with a score of 90.465%.
Isabell Werth & Wendy de Fontaine were once again in second place. Relatively tense at the start of her test and her halt, and despite a contact that could still be improved, the Château de Fontaines DWB mare again demonstrated progress in her self carriage, particularly in the piaffe and passage. Their score of 90.080%, a new personal best for Wendy, also gave to Isabell Werth a third mare in her career to reach this symbolic score, after Weihegold and Bella Rose.
The podium was completed by Norway with Isabel Freese and Total Hope Old at 81.885%.
