Grandioso passed away
Grandioso has passed away at the age of 27. The Pura Raza Española competed alongside Daniel Martín Dockx at the highest level, notably participating in two Olympic Games: London in 2012 and Rio in 2016.
Born in 1999, this son of Adelante was sold to the United States at the age of four. Initially trained by American rider Courtney King-Dye, he moved to Spain following her serious accident in 2010. In 2011, Grandioso and his rider won the Spanish Grand Prix championship before establishing themselves at the top level of the sport. Selected for the 2012 London Olympics, they helped the Spanish team secure seventh place.
Their journey continued to the 2013 European Championships in Herning, the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, and the 2015 European Championships in Aachen. In 2016, Grandioso competed in his second Olympic Games; scoring 70.829% in the Grand Prix, the pair once again contributed to Spain’s seventh-place finish. This marked his final international competition before embarking on a career as a breeding stallion at Hampton Green Farm.
