Ebony, the former Grand Prix horse of Dutch rider Vai Bruntink, has died at the age of 17.

Discovered by Sjak Laarakkers and Vai Bruntink, Ebony was ridden by the Dutch rider from his earliest years of competition. Notably, the pair finished fifth in the Dutch Championship for four-year-olds and represented the KWPN three times at the World Breeding Championships for Young Horses: placing ninth in the five-year-old division, followed by a ninth-place finish in the six-year-old Small Final and fifth in the seven-year-old Small Final.

After a single CDI appearance at Small Tour level and a three-year hiatus, the stallion returned to Grand Prix competition in 2022 before eventually being gelded. Following a score of 67.761% in the Grand Prix at the 2023 Sint-Truiden CDI, and an elimination in the Grand Prix Special, Ebony was sold in 2024 to Isabel Martinez Valdelvira in Spain, serving as a schoolmaster for her daughter, Alba Sanchez Martinez.

Alba Sanchez Martinez presented Ebony for their final competition outing in the spring of 2026, in the Young Rider classes.
