Baby news for former Grand Prix mares

This week and the last few days have been favorable for births! Besides Dalera, the former star of Jessica von Bredow Werndl, two other Grand Prix mares also gave birth to their first foals: Elvive and Unazalée de Massa.

Tuschinski x Don Schufro crossed mare, Elvive won a bronze medal at the 6-Year-Old Championship in the Netherlands with Veronique Roerink. Acquired by the Oatley family in 2017, the bay mare competed in the Small Tour level in Germany that same year, then in the Medium Tour the following year with Patrik Kittel. Lyndal Oatley then took over her reins, initially in national competitions, and then in the Grand Prix at CDI level from 2021 onwards. This half-sister to Flanell, Semmieke Rothenberger's Grand Prix mare, distinguished herself from her very first competition, dominating the Mariakalnok CDI. While both were selected for the Nations Cup in Compiègne in 2022, they never represented Australia at a major Championship. After a 2023 marked by colic that required a surgery, in 2024 they only competed at the CDI 4* in Lier. "Married" with Dante Weltino, Elvive produced a filly named Dante’s Evviva.

Born at the Massa stud farm in 2012, Unazalée de Massa was first seen competing in CDI classes for 5-year-olds with Ludovic Martin before being sold to Diana Al Shaer. The Palestinian rider debuted the Rubin Cortes & Maestro mare in Grand Prix competitions in 2018 in Compiègne and competed internationally until 2024: they notably participated in the World Championships in Herning in 2022. Unazalée de Massa gave birth to a foal by Kjento.
