Depuis le CDI 5* de Frankfurt en décembre dernier où il remportait le Grand Prix à 81.587% et la reprise à 91.195%, Zonik Plus est depuis resté sagement à la maison. Après quelques semaines consacrées au travail et à la reproduction, l'étalon de 10 ans fera son retour à la compétition la semaine prochaine sur l'étape Coupe du Monde de s'Hertogenbosch ; un rendez-vous auquel il participait déjà l'année dernière. A quelques jours de quitter la Wallonie pour rejoindre le Brabant-Septentrional, Justin Verboomen revenait avec l'organisation de la dernière étape Coupe du Monde de la saison sur les quelques derniers mois " l'année dernière a été vraiment inimaginable, mais pour être tout à fait honnête, ça m'a un peu dépassé. J'ai du mal à réaliser que Zonik Plus et moi avons connu tous ces succès [...] ". Il faut dire qu'au delà de la rapidité de sa trajectoire, le couple belge est assez atypique. Sans grosse structure ni grande équipe, le belge excelle aujourd'hui à haut niveau à sa manière " mon quotidien est loin des projecteurs ; je travaille à l'écurie presque entièrement seul chaque jour. Tous ces succès et ces résultats me semblent presque irréels et si éloignés de mes activités quotidiennes. Parfois, j'ai du mal à réaliser que tout cela est bien réel. [...]. J'ai toujours l'impression que ce n'est pas assez bien, mais je gère mieux cette appréhension " . Depuis deux mois et demi, le Rheilander né chez Vasco Francisco Freire, distribué en France par La Collection, s'est notamment consacré à la reproduction " après Francfort, Zonik Plus s'est concentré sur sa carrière d'étalon reproducteur en janvier et février. De ce fait, je l'ai un peu moins travaillé, mais je l'ai maintenu en forme ". Présent à Lier la semaine dernière lors d'une présentation aux côtés de son mari, le numéro 1 mondial profitait de l'occasion pour tester son étalon " ces deux derniers mois, nous avons travaillé différents exercices à la maison. Lier m'a permis d'évaluer notre niveau et, je l'espère, de décrocher une nouvelle victoire lors des Dutch Masters. Zonik Plus a encore une grande marge de progression et il est très jeune. J'ai hâte de voir ce que l'avenir nous réserve ". Concours après concours, Justin Verboomen se fait aussi doucement à son nouveau statut, celui de chouchou du public " je trouve difficile à croire que des certains personnes soient fans de nous. Je comprends que Zonik Plus plaise autant. Il est vraiment exceptionnel, et je suis moi-même un immense admirateur de ce cheval. Chaque jour, en le voyant à l'écurie, je me dis : « Mon Dieu, est-ce mon cheval ? » Alors, quand j'y pense, je comprends. Since the Frankfurt's 5* last December, where he won the Grand Prix with a 81.587% and the Freestyle with a 91.195%, Zonik Plus stayed at home. After a few weeks dedicated to breeding and light training, the 10-year-old stallion will make his come back to competition next week at the 's-Hertogenbosch World Cup qualifier; an event where he already competed in last year. Just few days before leaving Wallonia to head to North Brabant, Justin Verboomen spoke with to the last World Cup stage of the season's organizer, reflecting on the past few months " last year was truly unimaginable, but to be completely honest, many moments passed me by,” he says. “I can hardly imagine that we, myself and Zonik  Plus, have achieved all these successes. Yet when I see footage of those moments again, it really hits me ". Beyond the speed of their rise, the Belgian duo is quite atypical. Without a big stable and team, the Belgian excel at a high level in their own way " my daily routine is far from the spotlights; I work in the stable almost entirely alone every day. All the successes and results feel almost unreal and are so far off from my everyday activities. That sometimes makes it hard to realize that this is really happening. I do enjoy the competitions, they’re part of my job, and I’m learning more and more to enjoy them. I always think things won’t be good enough, but I’m getting better at dealing with that " . For the past two and a half months, the Rheilander, bred by Vasco Francisco Freire, stand at stud " After Frankfurt, Zonik Plus focused on his career as a breeding stallion during January and February. Because of that I trained him a little less, but I kept him in shape ". Seen in Lier last week for a presentation alongside her husband, the world number 1 took the opportunity to test his stallion. " I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. In our home training we spent the past two months working on various exercises. This show gave me a chance to see where we stand in a competition setting, so that during The Dutch Masters we can hopefully add another scoop on top. Zonik Plus can still improve a lot, and he is very young. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us ". Competition after competition, Justin Verboomen is also slowly getting used to his new status as a public favorite " I find it surprising and hard to believe that people are fans of us. I do understand that people love Zonik Plus. He is truly special, and I’m incredibly a fan of this horse myself. Every day when I see him in the stable I think again, ‘Oh my God, is this my horse.’ So when I look at it that way, I understand. Till now owned by Gestüt Schafhof, Destacado FRH, ridden by Matthias Alexander Rath, will now be ridden by a german young rider. Born and raised at Heinrich Gießelmann's farm, the father of international rider Jan-Dirk Gießelmann, who presented him for Hanoverian studbook approval in 2015, this son of Desperados FRH and Londonderry was then acquired by Gestüt Schafhof. Ridden by Matthias Alexander Rath since the summer of 2017, he represented Germany at the World Championships for Young Horses in the 5-year-old category, where he took second place, then the fourth the following year in the 6-year-old. Winner of Nurnberger Burgpokal final circuit in 2020, Destacado made his Grand Prix debut at the age of 8. Since 2021, Matthias Alexander Rath and Destacado FRH have represented Germany at the Compiègne Nations Cup and at the 2024 World Cup Final in Riyadh, where they finished 4th. They also achieved victories in the CDI at Ornago, Le Mans, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Aachen, Crozet, Wroclaw, and Madrid. Destacado FRH has now been sold as a schoolmaster. Matthias Alexander Rath explained yesterday to Dressursportkim, " I had never really considered selling him, but at the end of last year, Destacado's co-owners, Friederike Lohse and Jürgen Fitsch, contacted me – and that's when we started thinking about it. As everyone knows, we have continued to develop our competition side, notably with the recent organization of the Vienna dressage competition. In addition, I train several student riders, I still ride myself, of course, and I have a family. It's important to understand that you can't compete at the highest level at the same time. Destacado is now 13 years old and is an excellent teacher. I think he is ideal for a female rider, even though he is a stallion. He has never behaved like one, and he is an incredibly kind horse. Jusqu'alors propriété du Gestüt Schafhof, l'étalon Destacado FRH monté par Matthias Alexander Rath évoluera désormais avec une jeune cavalière. Né et élevé chez Heinrich Gießelmann, le père du cavalier international Jan-Dirk Gießelmann qui le présentait à l'approbation de son studbook en 2015. Alors approuvé Premium , le fils de Desperados FRH et Londonderry était acquis par le Gestüt Schafhof. D'abord monté par Pascal Kandziora, Destacado était l'année suivante second du Championnat des 3 ans du studbook Hanovrien et Champion d'Allemagne de la catégorie. Monté par Matthias Alexander Rath depuis l'été 2017, il représentait l'Allemagne aux Championnats du Monde Jeunes Chevaux des 5 ans dont il prenait la seconde place puis la 4 ème l'année suivante chez les 6 ans. Vainqueur de la finale du circuit   Nurnberger Burgpokal en 2020, Destacado débutait le Grand Prix à 8 ans. Depuis 2021, Matthias Alexander Rath & Destacado FRH défendaient les couleurs allemandes sur la Coupe des Nations de Compiègne et à l'occasion de la Finale Coupe du Monde de Riyad en 2024 dont ils terminaient 4 èmes. Ils s'imposaient par ailleurs en CDI à Ornago, au Mans, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Aix la Chapelle, Crozet, Wroclaw et Madrid. Destacado FRH a désormais été vendu comme maitre d'école. Matthias Alexander Rath expliquait hier à Dressursportkim " Je n'avais jamais vraiment envisagé de le vendre mais à la fin de l'année dernière, les copropriétaires de Destacado, Friederike Lohse et Jürgen Fitsch, m'ont contacté – et c'est là que nous avons commencé à y réfléchir. Comme chacun sait, nous avons continué à développer notre section compétition, notamment avec l'organisation récente du concours de dressage de Vienne. De plus, j'entraîne plusieurs élèves cavaliers, je monte toujours moi-même, bien sûr, et j'ai une famille. Il faut bien comprendre qu'on ne peut pas concourir au plus haut niveau en parallèle. Destacado a maintenant 13 ans et c'est un excellent professeur. Je pense qu'il est idéal pour une cavalière, même si c'est un étalon. Un peu moins de deux ans après son arrivée en Normandie où il est proposé aux éleveurs, l'étalon Chippendale fera son retour à la compétition cette semaine, à l'occasion du Grand National du Mans. Il est incontestablement associé aux écuries van Olst : né chez  P. van de Brandt, Chippendale débutait la compétition aux Pays-Bas en 2011 avec Eric van den Wildenberg en prenant la 4 ème place du Championnat néerlandais. Passé dans le piquet de Severo Jurado Lopez, alors cavalier des écuries de Den Hout, il participait en 2012 aux Championnats du Monde des 5 ans et prenait la 8 ème place du Championnat hollandais. Le fils de Lord Leatherdale et Negro continuait sa carrière sur le Petit Tour avec Anne van Olst qui le présentait à deux reprises en CDI, à Hagen et Roosendaal en 2014. Après 6 ans loin des terrains de concours, Chippendale réapparaissait avec Charlotte Fry à l'été 2020, d'abord sur un concours national puis sur le CDI de Hagen où ils prenaient la 5 ème place du Grand Prix à 71.956% puis à Exloo où ils étaient cette fois 4 èmes à 70.435%. Toujours propriété des écuries van Olst, Chippendale a rejoint le CRED, à La Vespière-Friardel dans le Cavaldos depuis mai 2024 où il est proposé aux éleveurs : il est d'ailleurs approuvé au Selle Français . Présenté au Salon des étalons de Saint Lo, Gilles Rigaud annonçait que Chippendale, désormais âgé de 19 ans, allait retrouver le sport cette saison : monté par Justine Rigaud, il sera au départ des épreuves Pro 1 Préliminaire et Pro 1 Grand Prix. Almost two years after he arrived in Normandy, Chippendale will make his competition return this week, in Le Mans. He is undeniably associated to the van Olst stables: bred by P. van de Brandt, Chippendale started competing in the Netherlands in 2011 with Eric van den Wildenberg, finishing 4th in the Dutch 4yo Championship. Joining later Severo Jurado Lopez, based at that time in Den Hout, Chippendale participated in the 2012 World Championships for 5-year-olds and finished 8th in the Dutch Championship. The son of Lord Leatherdale and Negro continued his career on Small Tour level with Anne van Olst who presented him twice in CDI, at Hagen and Roosendaal in 2014. After 6 years away competition, Chippendale reappeared with Charlotte Fry in the summer of 2020, first at a national competition then in Hagen where they took 5th place in the Grand Prix with a 71.956%, then in Exloo where they were this time 4th with a 70.435%. Still owned by the van Olst, Chippendale joined the CRED , in La Vespière-Friardel, in the Cavaldos in May 2024, where he is standing. Despite the sale of Djembe de Hus (see HERE ), Justin Verboomen remains firmly established at the top of the world hierarchy and retains his number one position this month: the Belgian is now announced for the World Cup in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, where he already participated last year (photo). Starting respectively in the Grand Prix Special and the freestyle, the German Katharina Hemmer and the Belgian Larissa Pauluis won this afternoon in Lier. Despite being distracted at his first halt, Denoix once again demonstrated the consistency of his work and his desire to excel. Under the expert eyes of Hubertus Schmidt, Monica Theodorescu, and Henrike Lochthowe, the chestnut gelding made no mistakes, although he could have maintained his neck a bit higher during the piaffe. The German pair secured another well-deserved victory, scoring 75.596%. The Grand Prix Special podium was entirely German, completed by Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeyer & Valencia AS at 70.298% and Lisa Müller & Gut Wettlkam's Zonik Hit Old at 69.787%. Expected to compete in the 's-Hertogenbosch World Cup, Larissa Pauluis opted for the freestyle; an opportunity to prepare for her next competition in the Netherlands, or the World Cup Final early April, if she decides to go.
